Outdoor rooms, decks and patios made special with real timber

A snowstorm may be bearing down on Eastern Ontario for this weekend, but spring is almost here and many of us are itching to get outdoors. What better way to do that than to assess the spaces you have for outdoor living!

The timberframe structure that we’re highlighting here was finished in 2017 for a young family in a suburban neighbourhood in the City of Ottawa. It has truly transformed their outdoor living.

The family approached us with a simple sketch and a couple pictures from Google images;  that was all we needed to create their backyard dream structure.

They wanted something to provide protection from rain and sun, so they could maximize enjoyment of outdoor living. The backyard faces west and the structure provides some much-needed shade from unwanted hot afternoon sun which would otherwise stream through their living room window and patio door.

The new space also gives the parents a comfortable spot to relax while watching their kids have fun in the pool.

This example is built over a cedar deck, but could easily be placed over patio stones, interlock or other bases.
